10 Ways You Can Help Fight Climate Change

Today marks the 51st anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970, when 20 million Americans took to the streets to demand a healthy, sustainable environment.

Easy ways you can help:

  1. Volunteer with a local environmental organization - Volunteering can be so fun, an awesome way to meet new people and you’re doing good for your community… nothing better!

  2. Buy only what you need!

  3. Recycle - Junk mail, old makeup containers, paper to - go cups, cardboard egg cartons, electronics… make an effort to recycle everything you can!

  4. Eat less meat and dairy products - Meat is linked back to various cancers, heart conditions and diabetes so eating less of it will not only be great for you but also for our planet!

  5. Bring your bags with you to shop - There are a ton of reusable bags online to choose from! This easy switch will save tons of plastic ending up in the landfill!

  6. Visit a flower nursery and plant some flowers - Plants are considered a critical resource because of the many ways they support life on Earth. They release oxygen into the atmosphere, absorb carbon dioxide, provide habitat and food for wildlife and humans, and regulate the water cycle.

  7. Buy vintage - Buying secondhand or vintage is not only fun but a really great way to produce less waste!

  8. Reduce your energy consumption - turn off things and unplug them when you aren’t using them, keep an eye on your thermostat and switch to energy efficient products when it’s time to buy new!

  9. Protect our forests - no fire hazards near the forrest, when buying wood choose wood with a certification or seal showing it’s sustainable origin and plant a tree!

  10. Share the changes you make with friends and encourage them to do the same!
